Lichtwoche Powers Up
Anticipation is growing in Sauerland, as in just a few months the who’s who of the lighting industry will gather again for Lichtwoche Sauerland – with many familiar and new brands taking part. “Even though the current economic climate presents challenges, we feel strong support within the industry,” emphasize spokespersons Alois Fischer and Andreas Kuhrt. “Preparations are progressing with great care – and the participating companies are showing that they are ready to make a strong impression in March.”
The current consumer downturn is undeniably having a serious impact on many market players. Yet the outlook also includes a continued demand for quality products – across all price segments. Throughout many European households, people are consciously investing in their living environments – and good lighting continues to play a central role. For retailers, this remains a valuable opportunity for differentiation.
Once again, leading manufacturers and suppliers of decorative home lighting from Germany and across Europe have confirmed their participation in Lichtwoche Sauerland – and look forward to welcoming their customers in their showrooms. While company teams are working on concepts, presentations and product ranges, the organizers are also busy with logistical preparations.
More artificial intelligence is being integrated into the #LWS app introduced last year, to further enhance visitor orientation. Navigation to exhibitor locations will become even smoother – as will the overview of new products, services, and offers. Coordination with partner hotels, sponsors and collaborators is also underway.
Starting January 15, 2026, customer registration will open on the Lichtwoche Sauerland website. From then on, visits can be registered, hotel vouchers booked, and tickets for our LightNight requested!

Strong Brands Light Up 2026
From March 1 to 5, the Lichtwoche Sauerland once again invites visitors to the traditional hub of lighting and luminaires—this time with notable anticipation. Over 30 renowned brands from the decorative residential lighting sector have already confirmed their participation, sending a clear message: the industry is committed to dialogue, orientation, and moving forward together.
With Alois Fischer (Fischer & Honsel GmbH) and Andreas Kuhrt (EGLO Leuchten Handels GmbH), two well-established industry figures are taking on the role of official spokespersons for the event. Both bring decades of experience and a sharp sense for the issues shaping the market. For them, the Lichtwoche is far more than a fixed date in the calendar: “Lichtwoche Sauerland is not just a product showcase—it’s a creative marketplace for ideas, relationships, and growth,” says Andreas Kuhrt. Alois Fischer adds: “At a time when consumer behavior is visibly changing, it’s more important than ever to provide the industry with a platform that offers guidance and confidence.”
Indeed, the economic environment remains challenging. Consumer sentiment in Germany continues to be subdued, despite improving expectations for economic growth and personal income, according to recent consumer climate surveys. A growing tendency to save and ongoing economic uncertainties continue to shape many households. At the same time, expectations for quality, efficiency, and durability are rising—values that present new opportunities for the lighting industry. The market for high-quality lighting solutions, smart concepts, and sophisticated design is vibrant. While some suppliers are expanding their portfolios to broaden their appeal, others are focusing on tailored specialty solutions. This is exactly where Lichtwoche Sauerland 2026 comes in: “There’s strong interest in well-thought-out products and solutions in retail,” says Dennis Köhler, who will once again organize the event next year. “Especially in cautious times, the market needs offerings with substance—and events that provide direction.”
For over two decades, Lichtwoche Sauerland has stood for progress through closeness. Manufacturers and retailers, buyers and resellers alike value the event’s compact, personal format set in the scenic Sauerland region. The Lichtwoche warmly invites manufacturers and brands in the decorative residential lighting sector to take part. Early participants not only gain visibility but also valuable access to key industry contacts.

The center of the light
In 2025, Sauerland will once again welcome thousands of professionals from all over the world as a fixed meeting point for the European lighting trade. In the week from February 16 to 21, players from the wholesale, specialist and retail sectors can expect not only outstanding products and collections, but also many profitable discussions and collaborations. “It is the highlight of our industry every year and for me personally it is an honor and a pleasure to accompany the 20th edition,” says Philipp Müller, entrepreneur and one of the two spokespersons for Lichtwoche Sauerland 2025. Michael Kossmann, also an entrepreneur and co-spokesperson for the event, adds: ‘We have given a lot of thought to how we can make our customers’ stay even more pleasant and profitable.” While retaining the basic concept, which has now been tried and tested for the 13th time, there has been no shortage of highlights. “This year, we will be marking our light region with an exceptionally powerful laser beam every evening of the Light Week,” says Müller. “With this extraordinary campaign, we want to make it uniquely clear that this is the center of light. The green beam of the Lichtwoche Sauerland will reach over 10 kilometers into the air and be visible from afar,” emphasizes Michael Kossmann. Dennis Köhler, who implemented this special campaign, is delighted with the exceptional recognition: “Where, if not here? Nowhere else do so many companies in the lighting and luminaire industry have their home as in the Sauerland.”
Nevertheless, the main players at Lichtwoche Sauerland are the focus of interest: the many new lamps, luminaires, LED strips and control systems for decorative and domestic lighting. One of the many dominant questions: Where are the trends heading? “The decorative lighting sector caters to the most diverse preferences and fulfills almost every wish in terms of materials, colors and shapes. And of course we follow the trends in interior design styles. Nevertheless, these are also products that are often permanently installed on ceilings or walls and therefore have to offer timeless design,” says Philipp Müller. Michael Kossmann also recalls the rapid development of recent years: “LED is versatile and today almost naturally offers us countless advantages for creating pleasant atmospheres within our own four walls. However, the possibilities of LED are still relatively new in history. Twenty years ago, there were no significant LED trends on the market.” This year's Lichtwoche Sauerland will once again present the latest variants of LED technology in their most beautiful designs and innovative concepts. The industry is looking forward to an intensive week of exchange and welcomes all visitors to the center of light.

For more than 100 years, lighting has been designed, manufactured, and traded in the Sauerland – for all areas of life. What once began as a regional exhibition has developed over the past 20 years into a European stage for the international lighting sector. Design, technology, and inspiration for illuminating homes, gardens, offices, and public spaces find their place here. Michael Kossmann, spokesperson for the Lichtwoche Sauerland, sums up the significance of the event: "The Sauerland is the home of lighting history – a place where the tradition, present, and future of the industry come together. And with the Lichtwoche Sauerland, the industry established a platform 20 years ago that has become indispensable.” Co-spokesperson Philipp Müller shares this view: "The lighting trade constantly needs new inspiration and impulses for the future of illumination. The decision to switch to an annual event format was absolutely the right one."

Highlights in spring
At a time when the weather outside is gloomy and dark, 41 top companies in the lighting industry are focusing on radiantly bright products and collections that will once again attract thousands of visitors to the Sauerland region in spring 2025.
“Retailers need ideas and inspiration to awaken people's desire to buy,” says Philipp Müller, spokesperson for Lichtwoche Sauerland and Managing Director of the TRIO Lighting Group in Arnsberg. “And we communicate this to our customers directly and in high quality to enable beautiful living and efficient lighting in the home,” adds co-spokesperson Michael Kossmann, who manages the business of luminaire manufacturer BANKAMP. “The overall economic situation has been tense for years and is constantly facing new challenges,” says the entrepreneur. “The order of the day is not to let up and not to rest on our laurels.” The 41 exhibitions at Lichtwoche Sauerland will demonstrate this once again. “The industry's innovative strength and wealth of ideas,” says Philipp Müller, ”is and remains unbroken. And everyone must continue to work hard to pave the way for efficient trade relations and smooth trade routes.” The direct exchange between manufacturers, retailers, importers and resellers will continue to be of great importance.
